I received the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lustrous Lip Gloss Set ($40) as a birthday gift. I typically wear neutral lip gloss, so I was a bit weary about using this lipgloss set.  In my past experience, I found that glosses tend to fade quickly and leave my lips feeling sticky.  But, I refuse to let my bias ruin the opportunity to test these out.  The Anastasia Beverly Hills Lustrous Lip Gloss Set contains eight dynamic, rich colors that are highly pigmented.  They include (as per described on the Anastasia Beverly Hills website):  

  1. Gilded: A metallic Champagne gold.
  2. Sunset Strip: A fiery gold-flecked pink.
  3. Dainty: An opaque retro pink.
  4. Metallic Rose: A shimmery classic mauve.
  5. Weekend Barbie: A vivid bright pink.
  6. Date Night: A romantic ruby red.
  7. Socialite: A sophisticated scarlet red.
  8. Black Cherry: A moody plum purple.

I tried Black Cherry and was pleasantly surprised to see that the color had survived for about 4 hours. The gloss felt smooth on the lips and did not feel tacky.  Overall, I would give this product 5 out of 5 stars for color payout, longevity (for a gloss), ease of use, and price point.  So whether your looking for a gift for yourself or others, I would highly recommend the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lustrous Lip Gloss set without hesitation.

Valentine's Day Look

For those of you in the Valentines Day spirit, this simple nail look has you covered. So ready, set, let’s deconstruct…

  1. Choose your favorite base coat and paint over clean dry nails.  We used “First Base Base Coat” by Essie ($8.50).
  2. Next, we painted all nails (except for the ring fingers) with the pastel pink color “Fiji” by Essie ($8.50).   Then continued painting the ring fingers in the crisp white color “Private Weekend” by Essie ($8.50).  Allow nails to dry completely.
  3. Now it’s time for the heart that will be placed on the ring fingers as accent nails.  Take any small bobby pin, unless you have a dotter tool, and open it up for easier handling.  Now dip the bobby pin into your chosen nail polishes and begin dotting in a heart formation.  For this look we used the following Essie nail colors:  Jump in My Jumpsuit (vibrant red), Sittin’ Pretty (lavender), and Good as Gold.   However, feel free to use any brands and/or colors.
  4. Finish off painting your nails with your favorite top coat.  We topped them off with  “Gel Setter” by Essie ($10.00).
